A fishing village that became the gateway to Saona
Bayahibe is a small Caribbean village of coloured boats and a single beach road that happens to sit at the door of Cotubanamá National Park and at the departure dock for Saona and Catalina islands. Next to it, Dominicus lines up the resorts, dive centres and beach clubs. There is no airport here, which is exactly why a private transfer matters — we drive you door to door from LRM, PUJ or SDQ.
Scale. Bayahibe still feels like a village: you can walk it end to end in twenty minutes, eat where the boat captains eat and swim off a beach that faces west, so the sunsets happen right in front of you. It is also the country's diving capital, with shallow reefs, the St. George wreck and the protected waters of Cotubanamá National Park a few minutes offshore.
Three airports serve the village. Casa de Campo (LRM) is the closest at 22 km, about 25-35 minutes. Punta Cana (PUJ) is 68 km, roughly an hour, and Las Américas (SDQ) is 125 km, around two hours. All three are single-leg private rides with us — no changing vehicles in La Romana, no waiting for a bus to fill up.
Because the boats leave early. Catamarans and speedboats to Saona and Catalina depart from the Bayahibe dock between 7:00 and 8:00 in the morning, and missing the departure means missing the day. We schedule dock pickups with a safety margin, we know exactly where the parking area ends and the pier begins, and we can hold the same vehicle for your return in the afternoon.
Everything on this stretch of coast: Bayahibe village and its dock, the Playa Bayahibe hotels, the whole Dominicus resort area, the dive centres and the private villas along the road to Padre Nuestro. We also connect Bayahibe with La Romana, the cruise terminal and the golf courses at Casa de Campo whenever you want a day out.
Snorkel or dive the reef, kayak into the mangroves, walk the Padre Nuestro nature trail through Taíno caves and freshwater springs, or take the short crossing to Isla Catalina.
